Website Building - Walkthrough
You must start with learning HTML, there is no shortcut.
You can either use my rubbish tutorial here or use this one. (Its brilliant, it really is!)
You may have lots of pages linked together or just one page, either way, make sure your main page is named 'index.html' or 'index.htm'.
If your site is going to be commercial (You are making money) then you must not copy scripts from other sites without permission, it may cost more when finding a domain, you must NEVER
copy text, images etc. from others sites. You should always use the more reliable host and should not use guestbooks or personal items. Also avoid 'I' and say 'We' when referring to yourself
or the company.
For hosting your site some good FREE hosts include: Lycos, Tripod & Yahoo Geocities.
You cannot get a .com or .co.uk address for free. For example: mysite.com. If you would like such a site you can register it for a fee. Uk2.net offer cheap registration which
includes free web forwarding - which can send a visitor to a FREE subdomain. Find a Host is a very good comparison service.
To publish your website you should use and FTP program. There is a good free one available for download here. Once it is downloaded you should set up and account using the settings given to you
by your host. (You may need to check their website.)
Please note this walkthrough was simply to help you get started, I'm no great author. When you have finished HTML I recommend going through the webmonkey website.
You should try css and javascript.
I hope you will find the tools and links here helpful. Good Luck!
